Welcome to Aurora & Locals ("we," "us," "our"), a travel experience platform operated by Premier Tours ehf., a company registered in Iceland.

By accessing or using our website, booking any travel experience, or engaging with our services in any way, you ("the Customer," "you," "your") agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. Please read them carefully.

1. Introduction

Welcome to Aurora & Locals ("we," "us," "our"), a travel experience platform operated by Premier Tours ehf., a company registered in Iceland.

By accessing or using our website, booking any travel experience, or engaging with our services in any way, you ("the Customer," "you," "your") agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. Please read them carefully.

If you do not agree to these Terms, you must not use our services.

Aurora & Locals is a licensed travel service provider registered with the Icelandic Tourist Board (Ferðamálastofa) and operates in full compliance with Icelandic law, including the Act on Package Travel and Linked Travel Arrangements (No. 95/2018).

3. Services

Aurora & Locals offers curated travel experiences across Iceland and Northern Europe, including but not limited to:

  • Aurora hunting tours and expeditions

  • Guided adventure experiences

  • Luxury travel packages

  • Cultural and heritage experiences

  • Wellness and nature-based experiences

  • Multi-day travel itineraries

  • Private and VIP travel experiences

  • Photography and creative tours

We act as both a direct provider and a marketplace connecting travellers with vetted, third-party experience providers ("Partners").

4. Booking & Confirmation

4.1. A booking is confirmed only when you receive a written confirmation email from Aurora & Locals with a booking reference number.

4.2. By completing a booking, you confirm that:

  • You are at least 18 years of age

  • All information provided is accurate and complete

  • You have authority to make the booking on behalf of all persons named

  • You accept these Terms of Service in full

4.3. We reserve the right to refuse or cancel any booking at our discretion, including in cases of pricing errors, suspected fraud, or unavailability.

5. Pricing & Payment

5.1. All prices are displayed in Icelandic Króna (ISK) unless otherwise stated. Prices may also be shown in EUR, USD, or GBP for convenience.

5.2. Prices include VAT where applicable (VAT No. 151515).

5.3. Full payment is required at the time of booking unless otherwise specified (e.g., deposit-based bookings for multi-day experiences).

5.4. We accept major credit cards, debit cards, and other payment methods as displayed at checkout. All transactions are processed securely.

5.5. Prices are subject to change without notice. However, once a booking is confirmed, the price is locked.

6. Cancellation & Refund Policy

6.1. Cancellation by the Customer

6.2. All cancellation requests must be submitted in writing via email.

6.3. No-shows are non-refundable.

6.2. Cancellation by Aurora & Locals

6.4. We reserve the right to cancel any experience due to:

  • Severe weather conditions or natural events

  • Safety concerns

  • Minimum participant requirements not being met

  • Force majeure events

6.5. In the event of cancellation by us, you will be offered:

  • A full refund, or

  • An alternative date or experience of equal value

6.6. We are not liable for additional costs incurred due to cancellations beyond our control (flights, accommodation, etc.).

7. Changes & Modifications

7.1. We reserve the right to make minor changes to any experience (e.g., route adjustments, timing changes, guide substitution) without notice where necessary for operational or safety reasons.

7.2. If a significant change is required, we will notify you as soon as reasonably possible and offer:

  • An alternative experience of comparable value

  • A full refund if the alternative is not acceptable

7.3. Customer-requested changes are subject to availability and may incur additional fees.

8. Travel Experiences & Third-Party Providers

8.1. Where Aurora & Locals acts as a marketplace connecting you with third-party experience providers ("Partners"), we act as an intermediary.

8.2. While all Partners are vetted for quality and licensing, the contract for the travel experience is between you and the Partner. Additional terms from the Partner may apply.

8.3. Aurora & Locals is not liable for the acts, omissions, or negligence of third-party Partners, except where required by law.

8.4. We work exclusively with licensed and insured operators and require all Partners to hold valid permits from the relevant Icelandic or European authorities.

9. Customer Responsibilities

9.1. You are responsible for:

  • Ensuring you are physically fit and able to participate in your chosen experience

  • Disclosing any medical conditions, allergies, or mobility restrictions at the time of booking

  • Arriving at the designated meeting point on time

  • Carrying valid identification and travel documents

  • Following the instructions of guides and staff at all times

  • Behaving respectfully toward guides, staff, other participants, and the natural environment

9.2. We reserve the right to exclude any participant from an experience if their behaviour endangers themselves, others, or the environment. No refund will be provided in such cases.

10. Nature & Weather Disclaimer

10.1. Iceland's weather is unpredictable. The aurora borealis is a natural phenomenon and sightings cannot be guaranteed.

10.2. Aurora & Locals does not provide refunds for experiences where the aurora was not visible due to weather, cloud cover, or low solar activity.

10.3. Experiences may be modified or rerouted based on weather and road conditions. Our guides prioritise your safety above all else.

10.4. Where an experience is fully cancelled due to weather, Section 6.2 applies.

11. Liability & Insurance

11.1. Aurora & Locals holds liability insurance as required by Icelandic law for licensed tour operators.

11.2. Our liability is limited to the value of the booked experience. We are not liable for:

  • Loss of personal belongings

  • Injuries resulting from failure to follow guide instructions

  • Indirect or consequential losses (missed flights, lost holiday time, etc.)

  • Events beyond our reasonable control (force majeure)

11.3. We strongly recommend that all customers purchase comprehensive travel insurance covering cancellation, medical emergencies, and personal belongings.

12. Intellectual Property

12.1. All content on the Aurora & Locals website — including text, images, logos, branding, and design — is the property of Premier Tours ehf. and is protected by Icelandic and international intellectual property laws.

12.2. You may not copy, reproduce, distribute, or use any content without prior written permission.

13. Privacy & Data Protection

13.1. We collect and process personal data in accordance with the Icelandic Data Protection Act (No. 90/2018) and the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

13.2. Personal data collected during booking is used solely for:

  • Processing and fulfilling your booking

  • Communicating with you about your experience

  • Legal and regulatory compliance

  • Improving our services (with consent)

13.3. We do not sell your personal data to third parties. For full details, please see our Privacy Policy.

14. Dispute Resolution

14.1. We aim to resolve all complaints promptly and fairly. Please contact us in writing within 14 days of your experience.

14.2. If a dispute cannot be resolved directly, it shall be governed by Icelandic law and submitted to the jurisdiction of the District Court of Reykjavík, Iceland.

14.3. EU residents may also submit disputes to the European Online Dispute Resolution platform (ODR): https://ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr

15. Force Majeure

Aurora & Locals shall not be liable for any failure or delay in performing our obligations where such failure or delay results from circumstances beyond our reasonable control, including but not limited to:

  • Volcanic eruptions, earthquakes, or seismic activity

  • Extreme weather events

  • Pandemics or government-imposed travel restrictions

  • War, terrorism, or civil unrest

  • Government actions or regulatory changes

16. Amendments

16.1. We reserve the right to update these Terms of Service at any time. Changes will be posted on our website with an updated effective date.

16.2. Continued use of our services after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
